About Shannon.ie
Shannon.ie covers County Clare, the Shannon region, and the daily details that matter to people who live here, visit often, or are planning a move. We publish guides to local government services, community resources, schools, transport, housing, and the practical side of life along the estuary and across the Burren.
The site began as a topical resource and continues that mission. Historical articles remain at their original URLs with their original wording, preserved for continuity and search. Alongside them we publish new evergreen guides that expand the same topics without inventing news events or rewriting the archive.
Our niche is narrow by design. If it touches County Clare or the Shannon corridor, it belongs here. If it does not, it does not. That focus lets us go deeper on planning applications, bus timetables, festival dates, and the hundred other threads that connect a region.
We serve three audiences in roughly equal measure: residents looking for a phone number or a deadline, newcomers trying to understand how the county works, and visitors who want more than a postcard view. All three deserve the same level of detail.
Shannon.ie is not a news wire. We do not chase breaking stories or publish daily updates. Instead we maintain a growing library of guides that stay useful for months or years. When something structural changes, a road realignment or a new clinic, we update the relevant page rather than start from scratch.
The editorial team works remotely, drawing on local knowledge, public records, and direct contact with county offices. We do not invent quotes, studies, or expert opinion. If we lack a specific fact, we say so or leave it out.
Revenue comes from modest display advertising and occasional partnerships with regional businesses. We do not accept payment for editorial placement, and we do not disguise advertising as articles. Sponsored content, when it appears, is labelled clearly at the top of the page.
Shannon.ie is built for the long term. We would rather publish six solid guides a month than sixty thin ones. Depth wins over speed, and usefulness wins over everything else.
